Hope in Spite of Hurt

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Another glorious Montana spring has sprung,
and summer has begun. God’s creation has come to vibrant life again—a panorama of
color and symphony of sound. This abundant expression of life paints a stark contrast to the growing needs of our community. Many of our neighbors are experiencing intense difficulties, whether from the recent historic floods, or through homelessness, unexpected bills, medical conditions, family troubles, or other unforeseen events. “Hard pressed on every side,” they are crying out. Let us come together as the body of Christ. Let us let the majesty of the season motivate us as we, together, care for our neighbors in need and help them to thrive. Will you join me?

Above and Beyond

A few months ago, Diana reached out for help to Love INC. She had separated from her husband and had been struggling to find long-term housing. Now that she found a place to live, she needed help with furniture. So, Love INC mobilized a pair of partner church volunteers to deliver some to her.

Diana and the volunteers quickly became friends, and those same volunteers would go on to deliver furniture to her many times. Before delivering each new piece of furniture for Diana’s apartment, one volunteer would text her,

“I have a surprise for you,”

which earned that volunteer the nickname Mrs. Santa Clause. Diana is legally blind and was struggling in her new apartment. The volunteers spent lots of time together helping her to learn the appliances in her new home and plenty of time just fellowshipping with her. Beyond delivering couches, volunteers deliver love and hope. Through these kind acts of Christ-like service, they often form lasting relationships with the clients they serve. Asking for help is difficult, but God works wonders when we do.

Ministry Highlight

Imagine walking into a store. Finances are tight, but you have a job interview and need new clothes. You walk up to a store employee and explain you don’t have much money. To your amazement, the employee just smiles and says,

“Everything here is a gift, completely free.”

At the Clothes Closet, all the clothing is free, a symbol of God’s love and provision. And these aren’t tattered hand-me-downs. The clothes we offer are new or gently used, “first fruits.” Anyone is welcome to shop in the Love INC Clothes Closet. That is because each person is loved, by God and by us, and worthy of all the help we can give.
