For the last two years, Love INC has journeyed alongside a client who, since childhood, has faced abuse, hurt, and rejection by those around her.
After being encouraged to reach out to Love INC, a volunteer delivered personal care items to her and offered to pray with her. When asked, Jessica (name changed), averting her gaze, respectfully declined and said “No thank you, but you can pray for me on your own time.” As time went on, Partner Church volunteers continued to care for her, not only meeting her needs through Love INC ministries but also seeking to show her the Love of Christ by going above and beyond.
She was given her first Christmas, her first Easter, and her first birthday party, despite being in her forties. In seeing the Love of Christ, Jessica now says she is willing to give God another chance, because of all the Christians who have cared for her. On Christmas morning Jessica sent the following to one of the Love INC staff:
Normally, holidays are really hard for me because it always reminds me how alone I really am. I don’t feel so alone this year. I’ve had so many just throw me away, but instead, you guys just went headfirst into every single problem, helping me find a solution. I have always had a trust issue, but you are chipping away at it.”
